The penetration rate of electric loaders has accelerated, with sales exceeding 10,000 units from January to May

China Engineering Machinery Industry Association released loader sales data in May.

The entire industry continued its growth trend, with the total sales of various loaders reaching 10,535 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.24%. Although the growth rate declined significantly compared with the past three months, in the past five months, the sales of loaders have been red all year-on-year. From January to May, the cumulative sales of various loaders reached 52,755 units, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%, and the overall market trend is improving. In the domestic market, a total of 6,037 loaders were sold in May, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%, higher than the overall sales growth rate. Since the beginning of this year, domestic sales of loaders have changed their slump and have maintained rapid year-on-year growth for four consecutive months. In the first five months, the cumulative sales reached 29,607 units, a year-on-year increase of 25.4%.

Growth momentum mainly comes from major engineering projects in many places across the country entering the "acceleration" stage. The demand for loaders has increased, and various companies have sufficient orders, and some companies have already scheduled production until the third quarter. Compared with the booming domestic market, exports were slightly weak. In May, the export volume of loaders was 4,498 units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.31%.

Recalling the export performance in the past year, loader exports have grown rapidly for seven consecutive months since June 2024, but since the beginning of this year, the growth momentum has greatly weakened. The cumulative exports of 23,148 units in the first five months, a slight increase of 2.39% year-on-year. However, according to historical data, the sales volume of 23,148 is second only to 2023, indicating that the loader is still popular in the international market and the prospects are optimistic.

Electric loaders continue to be popular. Sales volume this month reached 2,765 units, a year-on-year increase of 121%! So far, in the first five months of this year, the year-on-year growth rate of electric loader sales exceeded 100%, and continued to maintain a rapid growth rate. In the first five months, the cumulative sales of electric loaders exceeded 10,000 units, an increase of up to 179% year-on-year, and the penetration rate exceeded 20%.

From the tonnage, 5 tons and 6 tons are still the mainstream electrification models, and 5 tons in May1,756 units were sold, accounting for 63.5% of the total sales of electric loaders; 798 units were sold for 6-ton models, accounting for 28.9%, which is basically the same as last month. From a trend perspective, due to factors such as the decline in raw materials for lithium batteries, the stricter environmental protection requirements, and breakthroughs in key technologies of electric loaders, the penetration rate of electric loaders is constantly increasing, and is expected to hit 30% throughout the year.

Exceeded expectations! The sales of excavators exceeded 120,000 units in the first half of the year, and the trend may be like this in the second half of the year.
